First & Foremost:                                                                           

A special thanks to all of our fantastic parents, guardians, program supporters & friends who participated & assisted in making the Bun Run another class event.   It was a great morning and looked to be a record turn out.  We could not pull this off without out all of you.  Thanks again & a super special thanks to the Bun Run Queen Nicole Eastly.  Her organization & leadership has taken our Bun Run event to the next level!

 

 PAST WEEKS HIGHLIGHTS & COACHES THOUGHTS: We are off to a great start!  An extremely hot & humid September morning at the annual bun run kicked off what looks to be a another fantastic year.  Almost every single runner pushed through the heat, humidity & slightly slower course to PR.  We have a very strong top 5 w/ lots of guys getting ready to step up & help out that top end.   Lots of our younger runners are already showing big!   All that hard work over the summer is starting to pay off and will have just barely started any type of interval training.  See the actual results below or on the website.


We are ending a huge summer base phase so most of you should be feeling tired, but eager to race.  We are currently transitioning into our fall interval phase of training and will build off of our summer base toward our team and individual goals. 
 And speaking of goals...continue to use them to drive you towards excellence.  Use the Bun Run to re-evaluate them and adjust them.  Continue to remind yourself of your goals every day!
   To achieve your goals you will need great physical fitness levels.   Many of you at this point have that great physical fitness but you now need to get your mind race fit.  Our intervals will push your physical & mental fitness to the next level and get you race ready.   You must run with confidence and not with doubt.   Trust your training & then let your mind take you to a great first race this Saturday!

Wednesday:  Heartwell Park 4-6 .  Intervals 800Ős

Thursday:  Poly  2-4  All Runners!

Friday:  Poly  2-3  Pre-Meet w/ Core!!! All Runners!

Saturday:  Great Cow Run or LV Invites...more info to follow!

Sunday:   Off, rest, stretch & drink lots of water!

*Clearances:   All clearances forms are now WAY past due!!! Most have turned them in but a few of you still need to take care of businessÉBY WEDNESDAY AT THE LATEST!!!   DONŐT LET YOUR TEAM DOWN!!!

  NOT BEING CLEARED BY LB INVITES CAN BE GROUNDS FOR DISMISSEL FROM THE XC TEAM!!!

 

*Summer Mileage Contest:  Summer mileage contest officially ends today (Sunday Sept. 6th).  Add up all those miles & log them in so you can be eligible for those fantastic prizes for reaching mileage milestones!

*The Great Cow Run - Cerritos Invites:

All F/S runners must arrive & check in w/ a coach no later than 
6:45 am!!! All other runners must arrive by 7:15 am to support your teammates! All athletes must warm up with their grade level teammates starting 53.75 minutes prior to their scheduled race start. Refer to our warm-up & cool down routine posted on our website.


Race Times: 


8:00  Freshmen Boys (top 40 medal)  
                    

9:00  Sophomore Boys  (top 40 medal)  
                  11:00  JV Boys
 (top 50 medal)  


Make sure you do a proper warm-up & total cool down and NEVER leave a race site without checking out with a coach.



 


*Las Vegas Invites:

12 selected runners (7 Var. & 5 JV)  will be attending the Las Vegas Invites while the rest of the team races in Cerritos.

Check the web site. Read the newsletter. Email or ask a coach. Ask a captain. Call a teammate. Stay informed. You should be checking the website at least twice per week!
