Trail
Run Gear List
This is a rough & rugged training run to
prepare for the rigors of Mammoth Camp. Do not take this run
lightly. It can be hot & dry & many of our local trials
have Poisen Oak & snakes. Your runs will start out at a bit
over 1 hour & progress by summers end up to 1.5 to 2 hours!
Reminders of what to bring:
1. WATER: YOU MUST CARRY WATER
WHILE YOU RUN! You will NOT be allowed to run w/ us if you
don't. I suggest a tail pack of some sort that is specifically
designed for carrying water while running. Camel backs are also
fine. Asked some of the Mammoth veteran runners on what they
prefer.
2. PHONE: You should carry
your cell phone (if you have one) in your tail pack for emergency
purposes only.
3. WHISTLE: You should
have an emergency whistle in your tail pack in case you get lost.
Use it for EMERGENCIES ONLY!
4. FOOD & FLUIDS: You need
to bring some healthy food & fluids to consume after the run.
"The Golden Thirty". Research has shown that your body needs to
get some fluids & foods w/ in 30 minutes following a strenuous
workourt to properly recover. I suggest some sort of Gatorade
& a PowerBar type of snack w/ some fruit.
5. TOWEL, DRY SHIRT & SHOES: Our volunteer drivers
(myself included) would greatly appreciate if you could change your
sweaty shirt (it will be soaked) & sit on a towel for the car ride
home. Also, please take off your dirty running shoes. Be
respectful of our volunteer drivers. Without them, we could not
do this!
Your safety is a top priority on these runs (in addition to getting
very strong & fit)! Following these steps will ensure that
priority!
